Happy Friday Everyone. Ramadan 2019 is just 3 days away now Alhamdulillah. I am trying my best to prepare myself and plan my work schedule accordingly. Last week, I crafted a little food container which was a trash material basically. You already know how much I enjoy recycling and reusing such materials. During my 9 years of blogging & in 700+ blog posts, more than 50% crafts tutorials are up-cycled somehow. Today again I am sharing a creative reuse of plastic food container by decorating it with mod podge collage clay. I hope you will like my previous and recent recycled art projects.

I ordered some food few days back and there was some salad in this plastic food container. Mostly when there are cute little plastic jars in the food delivery packages, I wash and keep them save instead of throwing in the trash. Believe me they can be used as organizers even if you do not decorate them. I wash these and let dry, then used them for keeping small accessories in my drawers usually. My today’s craft idea is also a useful upcycling which will help you organizing some mess in drawers.

In my craftroom, there are many little craft supplies which I don’t want to make a mess by misplacing. The best way to keep them organized is containers like these. By up-cycling such food containers, you can help environment to go green. Reuse of plastic material is necessary instead of throwing them in the garbage as they make a huge mess with our environment.

For crafting and decorating this cute little container, you will need a few craft supplies only. Have a look how you can do a fun reuse of plastic in a creative way! Hopefully I am not going to disappoint you.

Craft Supplies Required:

Mod Podge Collage Clay, Plastic container, Glass or plastic CD/DVD chunks, Mod Podge Glue, Rhinestone, Acrylic paints & brush. (I thought to use my name KIRAN alphabets here but there was not enough space to fix them)

These are very few craft supplies and I am sure all these things you can find at home. Collage clay is not available in Pakistan, so Pakistani readers of my blog can use my handmade dough recipe. You can make similar clay but it will not be as light in weight as collage clay.

To replace glass chunks, you can use any old CD or DVD and carefully cut it’s small pieces with a pair of scissors. If you don’t have rhinestones, use any embellishment which is available easily.

First, I applied some glue on the base & spread collage clay on the plastic container lid with the help of a spatula. Then fix the chunks in clay paste & coat it with mod podge transparent glue. Carefully fix chunks corners in the clay, so they will not be making issue. When glue on top will get dry, mirror chunks will be shining bright again.

Keep the lid aside and paint the container now. I like the unicorn color theme for the mini container with these glittery chunks. I decided to paint it in purple and pink shimmer shades & there we go! In 10 minutes, paint will get dry and container will be ready to use :)

This is how plastic container lid is looking after getting dry. Isn’t it looking good now? Now you can keep and organize any of your little stuff inside this unicorn themed cute little organizer. This doesn’t look like a plastic container by the way. Whoever saw this first, they thought it’s some antique thingie unless they touched it. As it is a plastic container, so it’s very light in weight. If you want to give it some weight, you can paste any wooden or thick plastic tile on it’s base area.

First I thought to keep some of my rings accessory in this container, but I already have SO MANY jewellery and accessory organizers. I don’t have enough accessory to keep to be very honest while there are more organizers I have crafted. Hehe! Isn’t it funny?
